NIGERIANS MOURN AKUNYILI

1. It is another sad day as Nigerians mourn the death of Prof. Mrs Dora Akunyili. She reportedly died in an Indian hospital of cancer. She had battled with cancer in the last one year. Her last public appearance was at the on-going national conference.

3. Akunyili will be remembered for invaluable role she played in putting an end to fake and counterfeit drugs while at the helms of affairs at NAFDAC. She fought the drug war courageously even at the risk of her life. She missed death by whiskers while in office. The drug cartels were after her life.She later went on to become a Minister of the federal republic under late Shehu Musa Yar' adua. She will also be remembered for her courage for speaking out against those who opposed the inauguration of  the then Vice-President, Goodluck Jonathan.

5. Wishing the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.Nigeria has lost a colossus and unbelievably courageous woman.We mourn her but may her soul find peace with the Lord.
