BETWEEN OYO CONGO AND OYO NIGERIA

I was amazed to know that just as we have Oyo in Nigeria, we have Oyo too in Congo Brazzaville .Oyo is in South Western part of Nigeria while Republic of  the Congo's Oyo is in central part of the country.

The languages will be different of course. In Congo it will be either French or Lingala. In Nigeria it will be English and Yoruba. In Congo, most citizens live in the cities while in Nigeria it is not so.

Similarities? Yes. Both countries got independence same year,1960. Congo got independence on August 1960 while Nigeria got hers on October 1.

On why they beat Nigeria 2-3 in Calabar? Nigeria had never had an edge over them since 1970.Between 1970 and 1972 it was 1 win a piece and 2 draws!

Maybe if we had taken the match to Oyo it would have favoured us.Or we plead with CAF that we want the return leg to be played in Oyo, Congo!

NIGERIANS MOURN AKUNYILI

  1. It is another sad day as Nigerians mourn the death of Prof. Mrs Dora Akunyili. She reportedly died in an Indian hospital of cancer. She had battled with cancer in the last one year. Her last public appearance was at the on-going national conference.

  2. Akunyili will be remembered for invaluable role she played in putting an end to fake and counterfeit drugs while at the helms of affairs at NAFDAC. She fought the drug war courageously even at the risk of her life. She missed death by whiskers while in office. The drug cartels were after her life. She later went on to become a Minister of the federal republic under late Shehu Musa Yar' adua. She will also be remembered for her courage for speaking out against those who opposed the inauguration of  the then Vice-President, Goodluck Jonathan.

  3. Wishing the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.Nigeria has lost a colossus and unbelievably courageous woman. We mourn her but may her soul find peace with the Lord.

OF GEJ'S CAMPAIGN AND HIS MACHINERY

Nothing is more nauseating every night for me than watching JEG's election campaign advert or slogan. The advert says light will soon be like we have GSM,24|7.The advert mentioned the achievement of the government. And one of them is presiding over largest economy in Africa.

The Protectors of posterity group sporing the advert are doing no good to GEJ's election campaigns. There is one slogan in one of the advert reads: ...Mr president leg on.,those who are with you are more than those who are against you.

So tell me who are those against GEJ? Is it Boko Haram, APC,corruption?

CHELSEA CLINTON IS PREGNANT

Chelsea Clinton is pregnant 34-year old only daughter of former US president is pregnant and it appears he is elated about it going by his recent tweets.

I'm happy for her and her husband. It's so good to see   the former president become a grandfather soon.

BIG BROTHER SMALL

It's on record that there are at least 7 jets in the presidential fleet. It is true that Nigeria do help other African countries' presidents who do not have jets. These are presidents who have decided ro lead by example .In their countries, prudence is the watch word .In Nigeria, impunity is the order of the day.We love to play big brother role to countries that will in turn treat us with impunity.

Death and ceaseless attacks on Nigerians have become the order of the day.The catch phrase among some countries ' security operatives is "kill a Nigerian and grow up." Nigerian students are been brought home in body bags. Many are missing in police nets all over the world.Outside Nigeria it's a crime to be a Nigerian even in African countries. When these countries run into economic and political troubled waters they run to Nigeria.

The time has come that we have to use our military forces more at home than on a projects that are worthless. The nation's resources could used better at home to solve our myriads of problems than donation and loans to countries that see us as 'money miss road.'

Back to the 7 jets in presidential fleets, we should reduce them to 2.Many rich countries have none. The leaders of these rich and powerful countries go by commercial flights. It is only in Nigeria that we want flaunt it that we are an oil producing nation.Only in Nigeria that a civil servant will fly to any part of the world in private jets.

What is so special about being an oil producing nation? We make so much money but yet we are so poor.Poverty is endemic in Nigeria .We know it and the world knows as well. The world knows something is pathologically wrong with us when they see thre affluence of our rulers and masters. Our masters have collected more oil proceeds since May 29,1999 till nonow than 1970 to 1998.The windfall from gulf was of early 90's is in accounts of one former head of state.

EXTREME PROFITS AND EXTREME POVERTY : Strange stories of Nigerian economic performance

My mind is at it again! Just wondering about the number of poor people springing up everywhere. I saw three people  today who were asking me to help them with alms.I do give alms most of the times but I don't think this will help them. There are many you will see again another day asking for the same thing. Some are able-bodied while some are not. Those who are able will give you different reasons why you should help them. Most times it will be about being stranded at the bus stop and the place he was going was very far.You will be moved and will part ways with your hard earned money.I met one many years ago who gave me stories about coming to Apapa and getting stranded due to lack of transport money. When I saw this same man at another bus stop and began his stories,I allowed  him to finished his pitiable stories and I told him that I gave him some money at the other bus stop just yesterday! I asked why are he was always stranded in this same part of Lagos.? He became ashamed and apologized profusely as he disappeared immediately among the  crowd at the bus stop. And to think I gave him a handsome amount,I felt used.

Joblessness is the younger brother of poverty. This is sad tales of majority of Nigerian population.Even world bank confirmed that we are on of the countries with extreme poverty.Despite this however,I kept reading stories of many quoted companies in Nigeria declaring billions of Naira as  profit.Companies are cutting labour costs by reducing staff strength or by engaging casual workers. There are many employees who have been casual or temporary staff for many years.Unfortunately I saw many of these companies releasing wonderful profits.Nigerian banks employ more casual workers than any sector.

I will still talk about these super  profits soon. Please watch out.
